Parker's departure from San Antonio marks the end of a remarkable run with the team, which he spent alongside Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Gregg Popovich. However, he has a close friend on the Hornets in fellow Frenchman Nic Batum.

Wojnarowski reported the Spurs wanted Parker to return, but he will play a more significant role in Charlotte under new Hornets head coach James Borrego. Tony Parker is believed to have planted the seed in Leonard's fractured relationship with his teammates and the coaching staff. Parker famously said his quad injury was "100 times worse" than Kawhi's injured right quad.

The point guard was a true cornerstone of the San Antonio franchise as he is only the third player in National Basketball Association history to play at least 17 seasons with one team before leaving alongside Karl Malone (18 seasons) and Hakeem Olajuwon (17 seasons).

Parker averaged just 7.7 points and 3.5 assists in 55 games last season, losing his starting spot to Dejounte Murray.

Perhaps Parker's presence away from the team could be enough to persuade Kawhi Leonard to play another season for the Spurs.

"The biggest joy for me has been to have the pleasure of watching TP grow up before our eyes", Popovich said.

Anthony and Howard will be on the move, seeking theirs. The 36-year-old point guard has signed with the Charlotte Hornets.

"This is something that we mutually want", Marks said. I think we're going to leave on good terms.

Rondo agreed to join the Lakers earlier in the week, but couldn't sign until today.

He was part of 137 playoff wins with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, the second most by any coach and player in National Basketball Association history. "It's going to be very interesting this year and I look forward to a lot of exciting basketball".
