The models which have been finalised to receive these facilities aren't just the latest OnePlus 6 models but the company will be taking care of phones starting from the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T and it applies to all the higher spec versions in the range.
OnePlus has officially said that the OnePlus 3, 3T will keep getting regular OTA (over-the-air) updates until November 2018. Today, the company has announced the OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule which outlines how long devices will receive new features, Android updates, Android security patches, and bug fixes.
In case you were wondering how this will look for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, OnePlus says that they'll continue providing regular OTA updates until November of this year (2018), followed by an additional year of Android security patches.
There's good news for OnePlus owners as the Chinese firm has confirmed that it will offer Android version software updates for two years from the release of a handset, and Android security updates for three years. After that theres an extra year of bi-montly security patches (as in every two months). OnePlus stated that it would be publishing one last Open Beta build for the OnePlus 3/3T smartphones later this week and during the first week of July, a stable version of the same will be pushed out for beta testers to migrate back to the stable version of OxygenOS.
On a related note, OnePlus also announced that the Open Beta program for the 3 and 3T will be ending this week. Having the reassurance that throughout the time a user owns the device will see not only regular security patches but also timely software updates with new features can only help improve the appeal and integrity of OnePlus.
