John Cena makes a brief appearance in the trailer as Agent Burns, a government operative who looks like he's on the wrong side of the battle, hinting at the action to come in this science-fiction adventure. Catch the first trailer up top.
Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we're taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Bumblebee.
Bumblebee even transforms from a gentle, goofy-looking auto, a yellow original-model Volkswagen Beetle.
While the above clip doesn't provide much in the way of plot information, it's clear the film is going for a smaller-scale sort of story than its larger-than-life Bay-helmed efforts.
Hailee plays Charlie Watson, a teenage tomboy who will soon discover that her Beetle is a transforming alien robot.
Bumblebee is the live-action debut from Travis Knight, founder of Laika Studios and director of the charming Kubo And The Two Strings. Pamela Adlon, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, and Rachel Crow co-star in the film, he first since last year's "Transformers: The Last Knight". His dialogue plays in the background as we see Charlie Wilson meet Bumblebee at a junkyard in one of the Californian beach towns. When she revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary VW bug.
Whether audiences still have an appetite for such computer-generated-imaging mayhem won't be known until later this year, as Bumblebee arrives in theaters on December 21.
