Gaza militants fired five projectiles toward Israel on Saturday night, the Israel Defense Forces said, in apparent violation of a ceasefire agreed to by Hamas and Islamic Jihad earlier in the week.

At least four were fired from Gaza at Israel with three being intercepted and one fell short.

The Israeli military said Palestinian militants had attacked its troops along the border with gunfire and a grenade. The draft has been lambasted by Israel's permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, who called it "shameful" and argued the resolution was created to help Hamas.

Israeli air force jets have bombed several military posts and facilities in the Gaza Strip belonging to Hamas, hours after rockets were fired from the territory at Israel.

On Friday, she was less than 100 yards from the fence when she was bandaging the man struck by the tear gas canister, Ibrahim al-Najjar said. Her father, Ashraf al-Najjar, had a shop that sold motorcycle parts, which was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike during the 2014 war between Israel and the militant group.

In a statement later on Friday, Hanan Ashrawi, Palestinian Liberation Organization executive committee member, said the USA had once again demonstrated its "blind loyalty to Israel and tried to absolve it of any wrongdoing despite its egregious violations, deliberate massacres and willful killings and war crimes".

The Israeli military said on Saturday it was investigating the apparent killing by its troops of a Palestinian nurse on Friday during protests along the Gaza border.

Israeli warplanes have carried out a series of fresh airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.

Najjar the eldest of six children got training for two years as a paramedic at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis and became a volunteer of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, a nongovernmental health organization. Two-thirds of the two million Palestinians in Gaza are war refugees or their descendants.

"It is the first time the Israeli side have killed a paramedic, she is a female", Dr Iyad Yaghi told me surrounded by doctors. Israeli officials have argued that they have a right to use deadly force to stop protesters from scaling the fence that separates Gaza and Israel.

Organisers encouraged the protesters to try to burst through the fence into Israel, and Israeli soldiers responded with firepower.

Nevertheless, one person in Sderot was injured by flying shrapnel that landed in the city after the interception; residents in the Gaza Belt region have only a 15-second window in which to reach a safe space before a rocket or mortar lands in the vicinity.

The demonstrations and violence peaked on May 14 when at least 61 Palestinians were killed in clashes as tens of thousands of Gazans protested the U.S. transfer of its embassy in Israel to the disputed city of Jerusalem the same day.
