Arsenal put break clause in Unai Emery deal?

GETTY Unai Emery has taken over at Arsenal

Fellow midfielder Jack Wilshere, who joined Arsenal aged nine, recently missed out on England's 2018 World Cup squad, and he could soon be a free agent too, with his Gunners contract coming to an end next month. The new contract would see the Wales star net a substantial pay increase.

Aaron Ramsey is Arsenal's current longest serving player with the Welshman close to completing a decade with the North London Club. His comments are a good sign that he fully intends to put pen to paper on a new contract.

"I rolled my ankle, but I'd taken the armband from Ash and I thought I had to stay on and do my bit for the team", said Ramsey.

The Wales midfielder scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for the club last season. The 27-year-old has been with Arsenal since joining from Cardiff back in 2008.

At the age of 68 and with three Premier League titles already to his name, Wenger could have been forgiven if he wanted to retire. Chelsea are reportedly one of them, as are Juventus.

Arsenal have also offered Jack Wilshere a new deal on reduced terms, but with lucrative performance-based bonuses.

And it appears club chiefs have opted to place a break-clause in Emery's new deal. In a recent quote while on worldwide duty with Wales, Ramsey somewhat dropped a hint saying he is looking forward to the next season, especially under Unai Emery.

Stephan Lichtsteiner is on the verge of becoming Arsenal's first signing under Unai Emery, and Gunners supporters are delighted.
