The new American Idol shared that she and Caleb wanted to keep their relationship on the DL because, "We were like, 'We don't want to steal Gabby and Cade's thunder.' Also, we didn't want people to think we weren't concentrating on the competition but we have been hanging out ever since the first day of Hollywood Week".

Hailing from Clarksville, Iowa, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter has been a fan favorite since the start of the season, wowing with folk-pop renditions of classic songs by The Beach Boys, Sinead O'Connor and The Bangles.

Poppe found out she made it to the top two with Hutchinson just after 9:15 p.m. Monday.

In the midst of all the songs and celebration, host Ryan Seacrest gathered all three on stage for the first elimination of the night.

Shortly before the final results were announced, Hutchinson revealed that Poppe is his girlfriend, sending the audience screaming and swooning as the duo launched into a sweet, stripped-down take on Over the Rainbow.

Maddie Poppe will be releasing track Going Going Gone as her winner's single.

Reality series are usually remembered for their winners, but "American Idol" changed up that routine Monday night with a little romance.

"But ABC" s streamlined and modified version of the show, much to our surprise, performed well in the ratings, introduced us to a charismatic (and funny) new judge in Katy Perrry, and produced three pretty legitimate finalists. Then, all of her fellow contestants rushed the stage to tackle her with a giant hug. It was an adorable celebration, showing the closeness that the contestants share with one another. Now, it's Katy Perry and Catie Turner's turn to deliver an epic performance.

Tonight's finale was filled with highlights from the season, celebrity performances and bloopers.

"Idol" saluted Perry as an unpredictable star who brings a zaniness to the show.

Richie opened the two-hour finale with a glittering performance of his 1983 hit All Night Long, accompanied by the top 10. Barrett then took the stage with her song "River Deep". As their families watched and smiled from the crowd, the two couldn't help but blush as they performed together.
