In the 43rd edition of Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio today, Mr Modi said, water conservation has been a way of life for our forefathers and they devised newer methods to conserve every single drop of water. "Not just that, those interns who accomplish their tasks well will be awarded two credit points each by the UGC", Modi said. He also boasted about the National Livelihood Mission and said the programme is successfully generating employment in the rural areas and curtailing the outbound migrants from the village. He also told the listeners that his government is making efforts to develop Buddhist tourism infrastructure with an aim to connect Southeast Asia with archaic Indian Buddhist site. The prime minister said he was happy with the popular support for the movement while appreciating film personalities such as Akshay Kumar for their contributions to the movement through videos on social media.

He said the country has inherited Lord Buddha's wisdom. "They overcame many obstacles and difficulties to reach there".

He also paid tribute to Lord Buddha ahead of Buddha Purnima, he said,"Today, there is confrontation and human suffering everywhere in the world. I wish people all over the world who revere Lord Buddha and believe in the principles of his compassion, an auspicious Buddha Purnima", Modi said.

He said, Baba Saheb strengthened the oppressed, exploited, deprived and crores of people standing on the brink of marginalization through Constitution of India.

Modi also congratulated all the members of India's wrestling team for winning medal in the events. India's test was not only successful but in a way, India had demonstrated its might in the field of science and technology.

Turning to water conservation, he said India has traditionally done it and cited examples of many temples and other historic places that have done so and noted that some rivers in states like Kerala and Uttar Pradesh have been revived recently. "On that day, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji had given the mantra - "Jai-Jawan Jai-Kisan, Jai-Vigyan", the Prime Minister added.
