Schon went on to say "that our Medical Staff and Hospital staffs deserve all the credit due to their never ending dedication to provide our patients the safest and highest quality patient care we can offer". "Receiving an "A" Safety Grade means a hospital is among the best in the country for preventing these bad problems and putting their patients first, 24 hours a day". "Our industry continues to make improvements in patient safety, and we must maintain a tireless focus on this major challenge to help transform our system into one that our patients deserve and of which we truly can be proud".
The Florida Hospital West Florida Division now has a flawless score card in patient safety and quality, and is the only hospital system in the Tampa Bay Area that earned the highest rating for all of its hospitals that participated in the survey. We are thankful for organizations like The Leapfrog Group who keep us and other hospitals accountable for patient safety. The award assures patients they are at a hospital with better systems in place to prevent medication errors, higher quality on maternity care and high-risk procedures, and lower readmission rates.
While some controversy may still surround the methodologies used in Leapfrog and other rankings, hospital leaders would do well to take a public and proactive approach to raising a poor grade as patients are watching. "We are committed to keeping patients safe, and strive every day to implement to the best safety measures available". Leapfrog has systematically raised standards for the hospitals since it began its ranking, but this spring's grades are directly comparable to the points allotted in fall 2017. The report showed it was below average in infection in the blood, surgical wounds splitting open and communication with doctors.
Additionally, Florida Hospital Wauchula is a four-time past recipient of the Top Rural Hospital Award from the Leapfrog Group, most recently in 2017.
Rutland Regional Medical Center founded in 1896, is the largest community hospital and the second largest health care facility in Vermont with a medical staff of 256 physicians trained in 37 specialty areas. EvergreenHealth has clinical and strategic partnerships with several health care entities, including Overlake Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and dozens of independent practices that are part of the clinically integrated Eastside Health Network and the Puget Sound High Value Network.
Five acute care hospitals that received an "A" safety grade rating from The Leapfrog Group received "F" ratings in past years, the organization announced April 24. It is the only hospital in the Capital Region ranked among IBM Watson Health's 100 Top Hospitals.
