Will Tom Brady Play Football in 2018?

Bill Belichick could use 2018 NFL Draft to execute his most ruthless act yet

Bill Belichick could use 2018 NFL Draft to execute his most ruthless act yet

The latest rumor is Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who hasn't participated in New England's voluntary offseason workout program, hasn't committed to playing in 2018.

Brady and Belichick were able to put all the friction over Guerrero and the freaky midseason Jimmy G trade behind them to reach the Super Bowl last season.

Other than Brady, the only quarterback on the Patriots roster is Brian Hoyer.

Sports Illustrated/MMQB's Albert Breer believes Brady's mindset has changed. Brady thinks Guerrero is responsible for his astounding longevity, while Belichick wants the rest of his team tended to by more traditional trainers. "However, having said that, we're dealing with a human being".

This seems to fly in the face of Brady saying he wants to play until he's in his fifties, but who knows.

"I wouldn't see why I wouldn't be back", Brady said. The Patriots have been examining options in next week's draft, and many around the league believe New England - armed with two first-round picks and two second-round picks - will use one of its high picks on a quarterback.

New England has already a potential sizable headache to deal with in the shape of Rob Gronkowski, who has also declined to commit to football ahead of the coming season.

If the report that Tom Brady hasn't officially committed to playing next season concerned you, another report by Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio will make you feel much better. He too recently missed the opening of the team's off-season workout program. With four picks in the first two rounds, the Patriots are in a nice position to restock their roster with some talented young players.
