Messi still has more goals to achieve

Chelsea Knocked out as Messi's Brace Inspires Barca to Last Eight

FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi speaks out after reaching UEFA Champions League 100 goal mark

Antonio Conte has revealed that he was simply complimenting Lionel Messi for his performance after the Argentine forward helped to inspire FC Barcelona to a 3-0 win over Chelsea FC in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

"It's right to praise a super, super, super top player".

"I must be honest, I have to be very proud about my players, we have to continue together this way, with this will to fight, this desire to fight together".

"We are talking about two different players with different careers", Conte said. "Our start was bad, to concede a goal after two minutes, but after this, we tried to play football and dominated for a long time in the game. This type of player, (there is) one player born in 50 years".

Chelsea's entire backline were, however, all over the place and they soon gifted Barca the third goal, and Messi his 100th Champions League goal to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive centurion club.

"I can not hide inside, I have to be a man and come out". In these two legs, Messi moved the final result.

Two goals from Lionel Messi, who also set up Ousmane Dembele's first goal for the club, fired Barca into the quarter-finals for the 10th consecutive season. He scores 60 goals every season - he is a super top player.

Barcelona provided an object lesson in ruthlessness as Chelsea matched them for long periods in general play, hitting the post and the crossbar through Marcos Alonso and Antonio Rudiger respectively. Barcelona meanwhile made it into the quarterfinals with Messi continuing his destructive run.

With Chelsea looking to keep things tight at the start of the game, Messi opened the scoring in just the second minute, exchanging passes with Luis Suarez and then firing home from an acute angle.

The Blues exited the Champions League at Barcelona on Wednesday and their final remaining trophy chance this term is the FA Cup, which resumes with Sunday's quarter-final at Leicester. "On Sunday I'll try to make the best decision, because we want to try to go to the next round".
