Nokia 7 Plus launched at MWC 2018, comes with 18:9 Display

Nokia goes 'bananas' with new retro phone

Reloaded: Nokia brings back the 8110 'Matrix' banana phone

Nokia has two target audiences in mind for the Nokia 8110, based on the tremendous response it received for the Nokia 3310.

As you would often expect from a new model of an existing smartphone, HMD - the company now behind the Nokia brand - has taken the original Nokia 7 and updated the design into 2018.

The HDM 8110 phone has an MSRP of €79, and will be available in Banana yellow as well as black come May 2018. These were launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Last year, HMD Global brought back the nostalgia with the announcement of the new Nokia 3310 feature phone.

The reason the Nokia 8110 was so advanced in its day was because of its curved, ergonomic shape, complete with a slider that pops down when a call is made or received.

A version of the phone appeared in 1999 film The Matrix, during the scene in which Neo tries to escape his office.

Gadget is working on its own Smart OS Feature, which will be able to run apps from the Nokia store.

Chinese megabrand Huawei, now the world's third largest smartphone maker behind Samsung and Apple, chose to forgo launching a phone at all. Users can also play Snake - the game often credited with the success of Nokia's 3210 model.

KaiOS is a fork of the Mozilla Firefox OS project, but the Nokia team was quick to emphasise that KaiOS is not Firefox OS. Four of the five are smartphones while the fifth is a nice little surprise for those who know about old phones.

"We're confident the additions to our portfolio of Android smartphones will set a new benchmark in terms of quality, design and usability". Apart from the full-view display, the device also comes with a re-designed rear camera. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. It's still low-priced, quality mobile phones that they're more likely to invest in, at least, during the initial run. The device has a combination of 12 Megapixel + 13 Megapixel at the back panel as Primary Camera.

Nokia has gone ahead and unveiled another classic feature phone, the 8110 at MWC this year. The handset will feature interchangeable covers, which will be offered in a range of colours.
