4 stabbed during church service in Corpus Christi home

Pastor, churchgoer in serious condition, others injured after stabbing

Four stabbed at Texas home church service; suspect in custody

Police said there were about ten people inside the home and others outside the home, making their way in for the service.

Police said about a dozen people may have been on the property for the non-denominational church service.

Corpus Christi police responded to a reported stabbing around 7 p.m. Wednesday in a home in the 1200 block of Cambridge Drive.

He's being held at the Nueces County jail on murder and aggravated assault charges.

Jail records don't yet indicate whether Moreno has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

"The officers at the scene suspect there is a mental health issue with the offender", said Hooper, who noted that Moreno has an "alcohol- and drug-related history" with police.

The incident occurred about 7pm Wednesday.

The pastor was found with a stab wound to the chest and the band member had a stab wound to the neck. He and a band member are in critical condition. He later died from his injuries at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline. One was stabbed in the hand and the other in the arm.

Two other churchgoers were hurt trying to the attacker off the pastor.

Moreno was still inside the home when police arrived and was taken into custody.
