OH toddler found 'frozen' outside family home

2-year-old girl found frozen to death on Ohio front porch

Akron toddler who died wandered out into cold while father slept, police say

Neighbors are desperate for answers after a toddler girl was found frozen to death on her own front porch. She is ice cold!

When Tierra Williams discovered her daughter, Wynter Parker, on her porch, she frantically called 911.

According to the child's mother, who hasn't been publicly named since she hasn't been charged in connection with the death, told police that she was out with her other child, a 4-year-old, while Wynter's father was supposed to be watching her at home.

- Authorities in OH are trying to figure out how a 2-year-old girl died after she was found unresponsive in frigid weather Friday laying on the front porch of an apartment building. While most never expected something like this to occur, one woman says she often saw the children outside and had to bring them home to their mother a couple of times.

The father, who also wasn't publicly identified by police, "works a night shift job and fell asleep", police said in the statement.

Asked how long the toddler had been out there, she replied, "I have no idea!"

"You're doing well", the dispatcher told her. "Keep going".

The child's death is under investigation, and authorities on Monday had not said whether charges may be filed in the case.

Lucas says she has seen both children outside alone before.

After the incident, neighbours grappled with what had happened.

"I cried because I just don't understand how a two-year-old could be outside and you not know", she added. "It literally broke my heart".

The mother is reported to have left the child in her father's care in order to carry out some errands with her four-year-old son.

The medical examiner's office said the toddler suffered severe hypothermia, but an official cause of death has not yet been determined.
