Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus finally hit the theatres on Thursday and despite facing a lot of protests, the movie got a decent opening at the box-office. This sum comes in despite a few state distributors deciding to collectively not screen the film. The makers had also arranged paid previews across the country, a day before it was released.
"Padmaavat" team is extremely happy with the film's business and its critical reception. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Rs 190 crore-film has collected Rs 32 crore on the second day of its release, bringing the total to Rs 56 crore, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. What's more, reports also say that they plan to call this movie 'Leela Ki Leela' and that it would be directed by Karni Sena activist Arvind Vyas. The opening is better than a year ago big films Raees, Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
However, now that the film is making such good money, we hope that all those protesting against it can see the bright side and accept the film. The actors too have been praised for their performances, particularly Ranveer Singh with some saying that the movie truly, only belongs to him as he has overshadowed everyone. "However, I think common people would watch the film at least once, if not for anything else, at least for the visual experience".
Meanwhile, talking about the film, Deepika Padukone, on Wednesday, said the movie has spoken for itself, against all the odds it faced from the very inception. However, while some believe Bhansali has outdone himself, some believe that it is far from some of his best works.
