According to the organisers, 87 of the top-earning 100 films previous year were "sequels, remakes or rip-offs".
The nominations for the 38th Golden Raspberries were announced today and unsurprisingly Transformers: The Last Knight is nominated for Worst Film of the Year.
For the not-super-coveted award, Lawrence is up against Katherine Heigl for Unforgettable (fitting title as we have no idea what this movie is), Dakota Johnson for Fifty Shades Darker, Tyler Perry for Boo! It's only the second time that an animated film has been nominated in the category; The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure in 2013 was the other film.
"Transformers" received the most Razzie nominations, being named in nine of 10 categories, including worst picture, worst actor, worst supporting actor (Anthony Hopkins), worst supporting actress (Laura Haddock) worst remake rip-off or sequel, worst director (Michael Bay), and worst screenplay.
Russell Crowe (The Mummy), Javier Bardem (Mother!), Goldie Hawn (Snatched), Susan Sarandon (A Bad Moms Christmas) and Mel Gibson (Daddy's Home 2) are among the big names nominated in the supporting acting categories. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" won the Razzie for Worst Picture in 2009. Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Emma Watson are in the running for these annual anti-Oscars, doled out to the worst films of the year.
The Razzies are joke awards, but a handful of winners have shown up to claim their trophies in good fun.
How much did they make at the Box Office?
