Hyrule Warriors, Team Ninja's hack-and-slash Zelda spin-off, was another 2014 game for Wii U - which has also already received a 3DS port. Tropical Freeze, the acclaimed platform developed by Retro Studios.
We learned today that Nintendo is going to continue this trend of porting old Wii U games over to the Switch, as it announced two more games today during its Direct Mini broadcast.
The game will be nearly identical to the Wii U version, though there will be a new playable character in the form of Funky Kong, who will join Dixie, Diddy, Donkey, and Cranky Kong on their adventure.
This won't come as a total surprise since we saw his Rabbid counterpart previous year, but now we have our first look at what Donkey Kong - the regular, non-Rabbid form - looks like in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. It means that many people missed out on some incredible games - and thankfully, they're making their way over to Nintendo's Switch. The writers here at Nintendo Enthusiast are huge fans of Tropical Freeze, so this is a welcome announcement.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will land on Switch on May 4.
The Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle story content starring Donkey Kong will release on Nintendo Switch in spring 2018.
