Deyshia Hargrave, a teacher in the Vermilion Parish School System, asked questions regarding the board's consideration of a $38,000 raise for the superintendent of the school system.
Hargrave was called upon a second time for comment.
As Puyau began to to directly address Hargrave, the city marshal officer asked her to leave.
"He's putting her in handcuffs right now", a man can be heard saying on a video taken from inside the meeting room.
The superintendent of Vermillion Parish schools, of which Rene Rost Middle School is a part of, told KATC-TV that the school board will not press charges against Hargrave.
The board was meeting to discuss a new three-year contract for Superintendent Jerome Puyau.
"I have a serious issue with a superintendent or any person of leadership getting any type of raise", Hargrave said. "We work very hard, with very little, to maintain the salaries we have".
It is unclear if the security officer was ordered to arrest Hargrave and remove her from the meeting.
The National Education Association reported that Louisiana saw the largest decrease in average public school teacher salary between 2014 and 2015, with the average salary for the 2015-2016 school year coming out to approximately $47,000.
"What are you doing?" she is heard exclaiming in the video, as she was led away to a cruiser outside.
The 74 was unable to reach the marshal's office or the school district Tuesday morning. Due to the location of her arrest and the arresting agency's jurisdiction, which includes the city limits of Abbeville, she was booked in and bonded from the local police department. Ms Hargrave did not appear to be raising her voice during the meeting.
A KATC reporter then recorded the marshal putting Hargrave into handcuffs and escorting her from the building.
