It's not the first seemingly rash basketball decision by the Ball patriarch: in early October, five-star prospect LaMelo Ball was pulled from Chino Hills High after Lavar announced he would be home-schooling his youngest child.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told the celebrity news website that LaVar believes UCLA's suspension is unfair, considering the charges against him and his teammates Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were dropped after their shoplifting arrest. President Trump, who was on a tour of Asia, personally intervened with President Xi Jinping of China to get the issue settled.

"They don't know how to coach my son", LaVar Ball said in November, according to Bleacher Report.

"I'm going to make him way better for the draft than UCLA ever could have", he said.

His older brother, Lonzo, played one year at UCLA before declaring for the NBA Draft.

It's unclear what the future of LiAngelo Ball will be after leaving the UCLA Bruins, but a quote from LaVar Ball in a June interview with GQ might provide an indication.

"It's not a new policy, it's an existing policy", a Lakers spokesperson told ESPN. Trump then stated that he didn't receive proper appreciation from LaVar Ball and later posted on Twitter: "I should have left them in jail!"

The three players are subject to review for violating the university's Student Conduct Code, which includes a section on theft.

The three haven't been allowed to play, practice or travel with the Bruins since.
