Sir Elton John's mother has passed away, just months after they healed their nine-year rift. "I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock", John wrote alongside a photo of the two of them.
The caption next to the post read, "So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning".
"To be honest with you, I don't miss her", he said.
The dispute with his mother began when he told her to cut off contact with...
"'However, I can say that we are now back in touch".
Prior to this year it is believed they had not had a relationship since June 2008.
Paul Bacon, who performs as "Ultimate Elton", charmed Ms Farebrother so much that the pair stayed in touch - and struck up an unlikely friendship.
John's relationship with his mother had been strained. Farebrother told the Telegraph in 2015 that she blamed her son-in-law David Furnish for the lapse in communication with her son.
The British singer announced that Sheila Farebrother had died aged 92 on Monday, posting a picture of them together on Instagram. All reminded Elton how special a mother's love is and suggested he not cry for what he's lost but smile for the special times he has had with her.
When she celebrated her 90th birthday, Elton John took the first step and broke the ice by sending her an exquisite bouquet of white orchids.
"I don't know [if watching me reminds her of her son]".
"I am so sorry for your loss". And to that I said to him, 'And you think more of that f***ing thing you married than your own mother.' Those were the last words I spoke to him.
His parents later divorced and his mother remarried his stepfather John, who also supported him and coaxed the youngster to write songs and get him a job as a pub pianist at the age of 15.
