Ivanka Trump Arrives In India To Attend Global Business Summit

A massive security cover will be thrown around the city Hyderabad with the deployment of over 10,000 policemen as the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), being attended Ivanka Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Trump was invited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June, this year's theme being supporting women entrepreneurs. Former Secretary of State John Kerry and former President Obama have attended the summit.

The CNN report quoted a senior State Department official as saying: "No one higher than the deputy assistant secretary is allowed to participate". "It's now another rift between the White House and State at a time when Rex Tillerson doesn't need any more problems with the president".

Hyderabad is a model city in terms of drawing investment from the U.S., given that the city is a hub for American IT (information technology) companies, said United States ambassador to India Kenneth Juster on Monday. Ivanka Trump, the daughter of US President Donald Trump, will get President level security during her India visit, the security authorities have uncovered on Friday.

The source added that Rex Tillerson feels slighted that he's suppose to be the nation's top diplomat yet Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have "stepped all over him" for a long time.

Senior government officials will be sent to India to support Ivanka Trump at the summit, just no high-level staff from the State Department.

In addition to the Global Entrepreneurship Network, several USA companies such as Amazon, Amway, CNBC, Cognizant, Kauffman Foundation, Salesforce, Silicon Valley Bank and Walmart are supporting the GES 2017.

"For India, the summit holds a special place as we are more intensely focused than ever before to give entrepreneurs the opportunities and ecosystem to help them thrive", said Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog. There is now no permanent Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs.

Still, State Department leadership has lately emphasised a commitment to forging a stronger relationship with India.

President Trump's daughter had been billed by the Indian government as the "star attraction" at the event. Her attendance, however, has been called off by Tillerson's team, CNN reported. The official added that he was unaware of tensions or the internal chatter over supporting the first daughter, who serves as a senior White House advisor.
