Gareth Southgate is set to hand England worldwide debuts to Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jordan Pickford against Germany, according to Sky sources.

Loftus-Cheek was one of five debutants on the night, with Jordan Pickford, Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Jack Cork also featuring.

It's a long season and I still have to improve.

The England midfield has often been accused of lacking the creativity to unlock the opposition but with fitness concerns over Jack Wilshere and his failure to secure a regular place in the Arsenal team, Southgate could have finally found the answer to that problem.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was the man who excelled above everyone else and the Chelsea man on-loan at Crystal Palace walked away with the Man of the Match award.

England supporters must have been dreading the prospect of facing Germany on Friday after seven key players including Harry Kane and Dele Alli pulled out of the squad.

"Tonight it took him 10 minutes to have a look around and think "Alright okay, I can do this".

He beamed: "I'm really not surprised by what [the young players] have done because they've shown that previously in other ages and this week in training".

Winning your first cap for your country is a special moment in any player's career, but Southgate went out of his way to make it all the more special for his young troops. He's got so many good attributes, top attributes, and that's why we put him into the team.

On his side's overall performance, Southgate added: 'We created a couple of really good chances and I felt our use of the ball was excellent throughout the game.

The 20-year-old has previously played for the Under-16s through to the Under-21s.

"They [the u21s] don't have a game and for them to be involved against Brazil would be a brilliant experience for them". I'll find out whose played well tonight, who warrants the decision.
