An Amber Alert has been issued for Sherin Mathews.

Texas police are searching for a missing toddler in the 900 block of Sunningdale in Richardson, Texas, after she vanished from a dark alley late Saturday night.

Wesley Mathews, 37, is said to have ordered daughter Sherin to stand next a tree in their garden at around 3am as part of the cruel punishment.

Mathews told detectives he directed the toddler to stand by a tree near the family's house at 3 a.m. because she would not drink her milk.

The Richardson Police Department, which issued the alert Saturday, believes Sherin Mathews, 3, was abducted. On Sunday, he was arraigned on the endangerment charge and a judge set his bond at $250,000.

Mathews told police he saw coyotes in the alley where he left his daughter. Richardson police also stated that Sherin was adopted from an orphanage in India two years ago, NBC5 reported. Sherin Matthews disappeared early yesterday morning.

Police said Mathews didn't contact authorities until hours later.

Mathews was most recently seen wearing a pink best, dark pajama bottoms and pink flip-flops.

New information is out about the arrest of a father whose daughter is now missing.

The three-year-old has black hair and brown eyes.

"That does not seem like a normal response that one would do if you have a missing child", Perlich said.
