The kindest thing I can say about Saturday (September 30) night's 43rd Saturday Night Live premiere is that host Ryan Gosling seemed consistently amused.

Having kicked off the latest series of Saturday Night Live last night, rapper/producer Jay-Z and his new best buddy, host Ryan Gosling, invited their leadings ladies on a night out to celebrate their successful show and, yes, it was every bit as lovely of a union as you'd imagine it to be.

Saturday Night Live airs live coast to coast Saturdays on NBC, 11:30/10:30c. And as it turns out, his second time around proved just as hard.

NBC promises a star-studded three week lineup starting on September 30.

While Gosling teases the season 43 premiere, Hova plays the straight man and remains pretty stoic throughout. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to host next week.

P!nk will join Nanjiani as the musical guest on episode 3. "Just want to know how excited I should be".

Season 42 of SNL averaged 10.880 million viewers in Live+7, making it the show's most-watched season in 23 years, and a 3.48 adults 18-49 L+7 rating, the highest in seven years.

A very smugly knowing, apparently delusional Gosling sits down and pretends to play the piano while giving a history lesson on how jazz spread from "Nerlans" to "Chicagy" and finally all the way to "NYC City". I both love and respect Darrell and have supported him for, you know, we are going on into our third decade. This time, I'm gonna give the world my soul.

"I just started crying", said Hammond, who stepped away as a regular "SNL" cast member in 2009. Let's clone and marry him!

Bringing it back from the best sketch Gosling ever did, we find Kate McKinnon, Ryan Gosling and Cecily Strong checking back in about their second alien abduction. While Gosling and Mendes usually keep their romance low-key - are rarely spotted out together - the couple hit the streets of NY hand-in-hand.
