Google's Pixel 2 is launching on October 4

This new date was first confirmed in a billboard that was spotted in Boston, and Google just confirmed the date in a YouTube video (if you recall, Google launched the original Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4, 2016). The billboard doesn't actually say that October 4 is the day Google will unveil the new handsets. Grab the popcorn and stay tuned for all the exciting (and not-so-exciting) leaks up until that event.

Who will have the last laugh?

Without the headphone jack, iPhone users are forced to either use a cumbersome adapter, which prevents the phone from being charged at the same time, or they must buy new headphones that support Apple proprietary Lightning connection.

Like past year, Google's software package will be the big focus of the Pixels, with a new always-on display mode coming to Android along with Google Lens, a visual search app. On Tuesday, Apple revealed a handful of new iPhones and Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Note 8 tomorrow, but in addition to all of that, Google is now teasing what certainly seems like a Pixel 2 reveal.

The Taimen will have a ginormous 6-inch screen.

The HTC documents also describe a mobile phone system with a gesture control called "Active Edge" that allows users to "squeeze for your Assistant".

With the announcement of the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X last week, Google knows people are starting to think about upgrading their handsets.

So, what exactly can we expect to see from the new Pixel series? It is widely rumoured that the phones will come with stereo speakers.

What is the meaning of 'a squeezable frame'. One feature expected for both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL is a touch-sensitive edge, much like the HTC U11. The design of the smartphones was interesting with its glass and metal back, however, it wasn't groundbreaking.

Owners of 64GB 6P models are reportedly being offered the 128GB variant of the Pixel XL while the others with lower end 6P models are getting the 32GB Pixel XLs.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (System On Chip) powers these devices. On the rear will be a 12-megapixel camera, with a large image sensor, although it lacks the dual-camera system.
