New Hampshire's Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital was locked down on Tuesday following reports of an active shooter at the medical facility, a spokesman said in an emailed message.

"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is now locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital", the facility said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is now locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital", media relations manager Mike Barwell said in a statement. The hospital was under lockdown and it wasn't clear if that was lifted.

Multiple New Hampshire State Police cruisers rushed to the area, where they were assisting with response and investigation, NBC5 reported. A code silver is a active shooter.

Hospital officials sent a statement to Local 22 & Local 44 saying the campus is on lockdown and a shelter in place order has been issued.

Police in the town of Lebanon confirmed that one suspect was arrested shortly before 3 p.m., 90 minutes after the initial alert. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
