Ousted White House communications boss Anthony Scaramucci claims there are figures in Washington actively working against President Donald Trump.

Scaramucci said he didn't know and hasn't directly asked Bannon about his views.

I applaud General McMaster for calling it out for what it is.

The Wall Street financier criticised the influence of Mr Bannon and the right-wing Breitbart News website that he was the driving force behind.

"I am ready to work with anybody who will help advance the president's agenda and advance the security, prosperity of the American people", McMaster said.

"The fact that [Steve Bannon] is sitting there inside the White House probably makes people think that [Breitbart] has an influence, and I think that's reason enough to probably make some changes".

Scaramucci has been a vocal critic of Bannon and offered a cryptic response when asked if Bannon should go.

Trump fired Scaramucci, a wealthy NY financier, on July 31, just days after naming him as communications director. "The president has a very good idea of the people who are undermining his agenda, that are serving their own interests", Scaramucci added.

In his interview on Sunday he said there were "elements" within the White House trying to eject Mr Trump.

Trump has been widely criticized, including by members of his own party, for not singling out white nationalists and white supremacists in his condemnation on Saturday after hundreds of neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members clashed with counterprotesters in Charlottesville.

White House Senior Adviser Steve Bannon attends a round table discussion held by U.S. President Donald Trump in MI on March 15.

"Can you and Steve Bannon still work together", Todd asked. "He called for national unity and bringing all Americans together".

Scaramucci's brief tenure had been marked by turmoil as he feuded publicly with then-White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

On July 22nd, Scaramucci appeared on the Breitbart News Saturday radio show, declaring: "I think that one of the things that Breitbart has done has captured the spirit of what is actually going on in this country". One person died when a vehicle plowed into a crowd. While some places require both parties to consent to being recorded, Washignton, D.C., where Lizza received the call, does not.

He did reveal that he spoke with the President this past week.

"He likes doing the opposite of what the media thinks he's going to do", Scaramucci said.
