Police say a MA woman who sparked an Amber Alert when she threatened to harm her 3-year-old daughter was found with the girl inside an idling auto with the exhaust pipe stuffed with clothing.
Worcester Police asked the public to be on the lookout for 3-year-old Ella Abbott after she was taken from a residence on Greenwood St.
She is charged with attempted murder, assault and battery on a child and reckless endangerment of a child.
State Police troopers eventually found Rickheit and Ella either asleep or unconscious in the running auto.
"VFAS Trooper Keller Williams smashed a window to the vehicle and troopers removed the child and Rickheit from the auto", State Police explained in a statement. Rickheit has a history in the Charlton area and was believed to have been recently traveling on the Massachusetts Turnpike in that area.
Both Rickheit and Ella were reported to be conscious and responsive afterwards.
While being taken to the hospital, Rickheit said inside the ambulance that she wanted to kill herself because "no one cares about me" and said that she intentionally blocked the tailpipe for "a couple of hours" before she was found, court documents read. The attorney representing Rickheit said that his client didn't think any harm would come to her daughter because she "cracked open a window".
Members of the department's Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section located the vehicle Rickheit was believed to be driving on the backside of a pond located through the woods behind the Country Store on Stafford Street in Charlton.
