A soldier injured as Pak violates ceasefire in Uri sector

Yesterday, another jawan was injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Baramulla district's Uri sector.

Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing towards an Indian post in the Uri sector, resulting in injuries to a jawan, an Army official said.

In the incident, an army soldier received a sniffer shot in his head and has been airlifted to army's 92 base hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar for treatment.

Sugra, aged 21, belonged to Sugri village of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand. "The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty", the Army said.

Meanwhile, an encounter is underway on Tuesday between the security forces and terrorists in Drubgam area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district as terrorists are believed to be trapped at the encounter site.

However, Pakistani Defense Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan informed the National Assembly on Monday that Indian troops have committed 319 ceasefire violations along the LoC in the disputed Kashmir region since November previous year.

The army has said the Pakistani military has violated the border ceasefire 285 times till August 1 since the beginning of the year.
