Unfortunately for Shepard and the Giants, the wide receiver was reportedly carted off of the field during Wednesday's practice with a leg injury. There is expected to be an update on the situation after practice. According to the Giants, it's a "rolled ankle" and what they are calling a "basketball-type" injury.

Shepard responded with a solid rookie campaign, accumulating 65 receptions for 683 yards and eight touchdowns. The cart, he said, was largely a precaution and a way to get Shepard back to the training room as quickly as possible.

"He's still a young player, but he works at it", McAdoo said.

The immediate diagnosis is a low-ankle sprain, according to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

McAdoo would not describe it as a high or low ankle sprain.

McAdoo didn't give any indication of when Shepard will be able to return to action. As the third receiver on the Giants' depth chart behind Odell Beckham and Brandon Marshall, Shepard is little more than a late-round fantasy pick.

"I shot him a quick text and let him know I was praying for him and thinking about him", fellow wide receiver Tavarres King said shortly after practice, noting he had yet to receive a response. But it also is a time where we see the majority of injuries happen. Find our Giants coverage on Facebook.
