The Kargil conflict in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir's Ladakh region took place after Pakistani troops occupied Indian posts on the heights.

People did not just salute the fearless sacrifices of the soldiers, one of the Twitter users even took to Twitter to share the heartwarming picture of his father - an army official - who was a part of the Kargil war.

The bravery of the Indian Army, the patriotic ferbour and the overall atmosphere of War, a mix of courage and tragedy, violence and love have been captured aptly in some of the Bollywood films.

Earlier, Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and the three Chiefs of Services laid floral wreaths at Amar Jawan Jyoti, here in the national capital to mark the occasion. Governer Ram Naik was also present at the Shaheed Smriti Vatika to pay tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the Kargil war, ANI reported.
