Conte's team missed out on signing 24-year-old Romelu Lukaku from Everton, snatched away in a £75 million (about $98 million) deal by Jose Mourinho's Manchester United.

Sky Sports News HQ understands it will be very hard for Chelsea to sign Aguero with Manchester City reluctant to let him leave.

"Absolutely. There's never been a doubt about that".

Speaking earlier this summer, the latter said: "I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous".

Over the past 24 hours, rumours of Sergio Aguero moving to Chelsea have seriously picked up. The Blues have also been linked with Alvaro Morata, Andrea Belotti and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in recent weeks. "It has never been in doubt".

Aguero managed 20 goals in the Premier League last season despite playing second fiddle to Gabriel Jesus for a particular period in the second half of the campaign.

The Spanish defender has been an unsung hero for Chelsea and Antonio Conte rates him very highly, considering him a very important player of the squad, so it seems unlikely that he will move to Barcelona this summer despite their interest.

The Argentine worldwide has scored 122 times for the Citizens in the six years he has been playing in the blue half of Manchester.

City will be one of Chelsea's top rivals for the Premier League title next season, having already spent big this summer in signing attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, goalkeeper Ederson and right-back Kyle Walker.
