Warner Bros. Developing 'The Accountant' Sequel

The triumvirate of star Ben Affleck, screenwriter Bill Dubuque and director Gavin O'Connor are all reportedly in talks to return for another outing.

Speaking with CS shortly before the original film's release, O'Connor was optimistic about the chances for an Accountant sequel.

"There's more to be explored with this character", he said. Books or comic books and super heroes. "What excites me is that, most franchises are IPs that people know about". This is all brand new for everybody.

The storyline followed a small-town certified public accountant with high-functioning autism who makes his living uncooking the books of criminal organizations. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world's most unsafe criminal organizations. I'm told they will then work out the beats of the story, which likely will include Jon Bernthal, whose character asserted himself at the conclusion of the first film. But when law enforcement begins closing in, they discover this accountant is much more deadly than he seems. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.

The Accountant isn't necessarily the type of film you would expect Warner Bros.to announce a sequel for, but despite mixed reviews, the film managed to gross $155 million worldwide on a budget of $44 million. However, his recent starring role in the action-crime drama The Accountant garnered acclaim and proved profitable; something that now stands to gain Affleck another sequel project.
