A 14-year-old girl fell 25 feet from a ride at Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George, New York on Saturday - and appeared to narrowly escape with her life.

The girl dangled briefly while her brother held her.

According to a statement from the Warren County Sheriff's office, the girl was 14 years old visiting the NY park from Delaware.

Officials inspected the Sky Ride and said it was in proper working order.

"As the safety of our guests and team members is our top priority, and out of an abundance of caution, the ride will remain closed while we conduct a thorough internal review", the company wrote in a statement.

"There's a lot of negativity going on about this, that it's the girl's fault, it's Six Flags' fault, it's security's fault", Howard said.

Howard and his daughter, along with a few other parkgoers and employees, positioned themselves under the girl, who was hanging from the two-person pod.

Theme park visitors have captured the incredible moment a quick-thinking crowd saved the life of a teenager who fell from a rollercoaster in NY.

"I couldn't let that little girl die", Howard told The Associated Press on Sunday.

"No one wants to put himself underneath a body like that, but I couldn't stand by and watch". He says he doesn't know the girl who was dangling from the ride but he rushed over to help.

"It's not something that you could just slip out of", Spiegel said. She was seated next to her younger brother. After the ride was stopped she dropped into the arms of several people.

Park staff stopped the ride after finding out a passenger was in distress.

"At approximately 8:05 p.m. on June 24, 2017, the Warren County Sheriff's Office and emergency medical services were dispatched to the Six Flags Amusement Park after a park guest fell from a ride", stated a spokesperson for Six Flags. Thanks to the guys who banded together to catch her and the guy who climbed the tree to move the branches out of the way.
