ICC may have two World T20s instead of Champions Trophy

The Madhya Pradesh police arrested 15 men on Tuesday afternoon from the Burhanpur district for allegedly celebrating Pakistani win over India in the ICC Champions Trophy final, reported PTI.

Sarfraz Ahmed talked to the media and said Pakistan team made a wonderful comeback after losing the first match against India, and played some exceptional cricket.

According to Indore inspector general of police Ajey Sharma, the police action followed a complaint filed by a local alleging that some youngsters were celebrating Pakistan's victory over India by bursting crackers and distributing candies at places close to homes of Hindus.

Jubilant photographs of Pakistan cricket fans dancing in the streets were plastered all over national newspapers on Monday after their eighth-ranked team produced a thrilling win against arch-rivals India in the Champions Trophy final. The fifteenth man is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Sedition as per Indian law amounts to inciting people to oppose their government.

The accused have also been charged with criminal conspiracy, the officer said, adding the celebrations continued for hours in the sensitive locality. "These videos were taken by our staff and the people that were there to watch the mischief", said Pathak.

"The upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales from 1-18 June carries a total prize money of $4.5 million with the victor of the eight-team tournament taking home a cheque of $2.2 million", the ICC announced.

India suffered an embarrassing loss against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday night. They claimed their third ICC tournament, having earlier won the 50-over World Cup in 1992 and the World Twenty20 in 2009.

South Asian neighbours India and Pakistan have a history of hostile relations - and have a famous rivalry on the cricket pitch as well.
