Accident reported involving military plane at OH air show

Reed said there was no immediate report of any injuries or fuel leaks.

A plane ended up on its top after it ran off the runway in Dayton, Ohio this afternoon.

The Sheriff's Office said two occupants were reportedly still inside the aircraft on the runway.

There was a "mishap" while a plane was on the ground, said Staff Sgt. Tabatha McCarthy with the Air Force Thunderbirds public relations office. She had no other information.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds confirmed an incident with a F-16D Fighting Falcon occurred around 12:20 p.m. Friday.

Several emergency vehicles are on scene.

Foggy conditions and a thunderstorm may have contributed to the mishap during a familiarization flight for the 2017 Vectren Dayton Air Show, NBC News reported.

In June 2016, an Air Force Thunderbird pilot experienced a malfunction in his throttle control during a fly over for the Air Force Academy graduation.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

The accident is reported one day after a fighter jet crashed at a Houston airbase, causing a one-mile area to be evacuated around the scene of the accident.

Doctors say the Flint, Michigan, airport officer stabbed in the neck during what federal authorities are investigating as a terrorist act is recovering well from the life-threatening attack.
