In a strategy shift, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday for the first time referred a reporter's question about the president's actions in regard to the FBI's Russian Federation probe to an outside counsel.

During the presidential transition period leading up to Trump's inauguration, Kushner held a series of meetings with the Russian ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak, and the head of a Moscow bank that was under US sanctions.

Lewandowski tells "Fox & Friends" that he wants to help promote Trump's agenda whether he's inside the White House or not.

When pressed as to why Trump stayed up so late, Spicer said upped the mystery even more: "The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant", Spicer said.

He says Trump is best served by having staff around him who know him well.

More than three dozen House Democrats want to shut off Jared Kushner's access to classified information in light of increased scrutiny by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over Kushner's contacts with Russian authorities.

That trails the records of Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, who had each nominated about twice as many people by this point in the first year of their first terms.

"He is particularly irked by the way the media interpreted his absence from Trump's visit with the Pope as the president snubbing him", Byers adds.

The tweet immediately went viral and became one of the president's more popular posts before it was taken down after almost six hours online.

Dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster checked in with an eye-rolling tweet about people looking up "covfefe" on its website.

He is also purportedly under scrutiny in the FBI's ongoing investigation of potential collusion between Russian Federation and Trump's 2016 campaign.

As reports swirl that Trump is planning a further shakeup of the White House communications team following the resignation of comms director Mike Dubke, the short briefings could be a sign that Spicer is next on the way out.
