Sony Playstation shows the Spider-Man game as they demonstrate upcoming game releases during a news conference at E3 2017 in Los Angeles, California, U.S. June 12, 2017.
Superhero games have a bit of a mixed history on current generation consoles. The world premiere of gameplay highlighted a combat system that borrows heavily from Arkham Knight and recent Batman games, as well as a worryingly strong emphasis on quick-time events. Deadpool was widely panned as just not good.
In the almost nine minute video, gamers had the chance to see Spidey in action against two New York-based criminal organizations: the men loyal to Wilson Fisk, and the Demons, a newer gang that is looking to muscle in on the Kingpin's territory. Whether or not Morales will have a major role is still questionable, but Insomniac confirmed on its website that Spider-Man would center on "an experienced Peter Parker who's more masterful at fighting big crime". During the video, lots of action, acrobatics, destruction, and humor is found.
It's also worth noting that what we saw in the trailer rang true to the Spider-Man character; he was constantly looking out for his surroundings, making every attempt to save the city of NY and its people. Even worse is that we're not sure whether this is a title that Sony has slated for early in 2018, or the Holiday shopping season. The PS4 exclusive is making an effort to break the trend.
