Freshman Eric Walker limited the hot-hitting Hogs to one run in seven-plus innings and No. 6 LSU downed the No. 13 Razorbacks 4-2 in the championship game of the SEC Tournament before a crowd of 13,128 at the Hoover Met.

Walker allowed one run in 7 2/3 innings and the Tigers survived a ninth-inning scare to beat Arkansas 4-2 on Sunday in the championship game, with the stands mostly full of fans in LSU purple and gold.

Sunday's game will be a big test for freshman right-hander Eric Walker, who's set to take the bump after Alex Lange and Jared Poche started in each of LSU's last two games.

LSU reliever Hunter Newman earned his 10th save of the season, allowing a run in the ninth, but forcing Arkansas designated hitter Luke Bonfield to ground into a game-ending fielder's choice with the bases loaded.

As for the pitching, the Hogs secured their second shutout of the week after sophomore Kacey Murphy threw a complete seven innings, allowing just two hits and three walks, while striking out eight.

MSU was held at bay from there until Brown hit his seventh home run of the season in the seventh inning. Jax Biggers was 3 for 4.

Arkansas' Chad Spanberger has hit five home runs, one away from a tournament record. "I just have to go up there and have confidence and trust my approach". Starter Eric Walker pitched 7 & 2/3rd innings while giving up one run on six hits. Over his last eight games, all 12 of his hits have gone for extra-bases, with nine in the form of home runs. Spanberger, the tournament MVP, had five homers in Arkansas' five games. Only one of the runs was earned as the Hogs committed a key error at the start of the inning that led to five of the first six batters to reach base. This was the first time in SEC Tournament history there has been a no-hitter, and the first time in Auburn history the Tigers have failed to record a hit.

"We feel like he wasn't even on the base, so we should have had runners on first and second and nobody out", Van Horn said. He drove in two runs and scored three.

"We have won three championships so far where we woke up in the morning and known that we are playing for a championship that day, an SEC Western Division, an overall SEC and then the tournament here". A regular-season resume that includes seven SEC series victories and an RPI ranking firmly in the nation's top 50 should be enough to get Thompson's team into an NCAA Tournament Regional when the selections are announced Monday night. SEC hosts are LSU, Florida, Kentucky and Arkansas.

"I think we dodged a bullet there".

HOOVER, Ala. | Greg Deichmann homered twice to help LSU beat SC 11-0 on Saturday in the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals.

Arledge went down slowly, got up and walked gingerly to first base with the help of a trainer.
