Government says 'No' to bilateral cricket with Pakistan

Anil Kumble using Virat Kohli's name to strengthen his case in pay hike proposal claims BCCI official

Government says 'No' to bilateral cricket with Pakistan

On May 3, the country's cricket board initiated formal dispute resolution proceedings against the BCCI to claim compensation and damages it suffered due to BCCI's refusal to play bilateral series with the Pakistan Cricket Board, despite commitment.

The minister made the statement ahead of a meeting between Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which is scheduled for today.

"The India-Pakistan series is going to be problematic and complicated because of the cross-border terrorism".

Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel has said that India will not play any cricket bilateral series with Pakistan until the neighbouring country keeps sending terrorists to India, according to an ANI report.

Kumble's deal ends after next month's Champions Trophy and the Board of Control for Cricket in India has chose to advertise for candidates.

"Sports and terrorism can not go hand in hand", he added.

Chairman PCB Sheheryar Khan, Chairman Pakistan Super League Najam Sethi and Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed will attend the meeting in Dubai.

It was earlier reported that the BCCI and PCB will meet at Dubai to sort out differences between the two boards. They played two T20Is and three ODIs in India. Praising the former leg-spinner and national captain, Sankaranarayanan further said: "Kumble has stood up for the players and pointed out that they don't get a penny from the ICC while it all goes into unaccounted pockets". According to the 42-year-old, the legendary India batsman's experience will come in handy, as well as the fact that he is now coaching India A, the country's Under-19 side and the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He said the PCB would approach court if the issue was not settled by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

"We have contacted Sehwag during the IPL and asked him to consider applying for the job of India coach".
