Zidane: 'Real Madrid not favourites in Champions League final'

Zidane could become the first Real coach to lead the Spanish giants to a league title and European Cup in the same season since 1958, after his side saw off Atletico Madrid in their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

Real Madrid, still crowing from reaching a third Champions League final in four years, will turn their focus to winning their first LaLiga title since 2012 when they play Sevilla in their final home game of the season tomorrow.

This season has all been about records for Zidane - he's been the architect of a Real Madrid side that has broken the all-time unbeaten record of a Spanish side, with Los Blancos also in the midst of the best ever consecutive scoring run by any club in Europe's Top 5 Leagues (all competitions).

"I have an fantastic team with great players, they deserve the credit for this qualification", Zidane said.

"I know where I am and the only thing that matters here is doing everything possible to win". But we can only think about tomorrow's game, which is the first of three.

Zidane is taking nothing for granted, as he believes the toughest part of the season is still to come.

Wales worldwide Bale sustained a calf injury in the Champions League quarter-final victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on April 12 and lasted less than 45 minutes on his return against Barcelona 11 days later.

"We are getting closer and closer to the goal".

Zidane has used the depth of his squad to great effect in recent weeks by making wholesale changes for La Liga games sandwiched between Champions League encounters. That would mean Real Madrid playing their "four finals" without him as they chase two trophies.

"We have to think exclusively about the game tomorrow".

We will have to have a very good afternoon to take on this opponent of a very high level.

But Madrid will have to make do without Gareth Bale for the match, as Zidane revealed the winger will once again be unavailable for selection due to a calf injury sustained last month against Bayern Munich.
