Four years later, it seems that Harry Styles has finally penned an ode to Taylor Swift - or at least the internet seems to think so. "You know? 2017, philosopher, London, England". However, there was one celebrity coupling that fans grew especially attached to: the union of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
Twitter took the singer reaction as solid confirmation, and reacted just how you'd expect.
His new Apple Music film, Harry Styles: Behind The Album, is released online on Monday (15May17). It's always been rumored that her 1989 tracks "Style" and "Out of the Woods" are about the former One Directioner.
Describing the crew as "wonderful people", he said: "My favourite part about playing with this band is that I never really felt repressed, I never felt like I was faking it". And this was a smart choice for Styles: to make a political song the first single, and to make it one of the most accessible songs on the album. As expected, the artist has a few tracks that are nearly blatant in their storytelling - like "Two Ghosts" possibly being about his ex Taylor Swift, for example.
They dated for a couple months in 2012.
The mere fact that "kiwi" is also a colloquialism for a New Zealander alone, made me think twice about this possible tell-all having some truth to it.
Asked if he had any message for Swift, Styles added, "Certain things don't work out". It's a time when it's very easy to feel incredibly sad about a lot of things.
"In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together", he explained.
Cut to today. What is "Two Ghosts" about?
Some limited edition merchandise such as a white vinyl LP and lithographs will also become available exclusively on Styles' website.
And, despite the host straight up asking the Sign Of The Times artist what the song Two Ghosts is "about", the 23-year-old awkwardly dance around answering the question.
