"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" finally reveals the first paid DLC, which adds new features like a new Cave of Trials.
For players who are more interested in exploration, Master Trials comes with a new feature called "Hero's Path", which tracks your footsteps over the last 200 hours of playtime and draws them out on your map, giving you a better idea of where you have and haven't been.
Trial of the Swords adds a challenge mode that's akin to Gears of War's Horde Mode where Link will face off against waves of enemies over 45 different rooms.
The latter is essentially a horde mode where Link will face off against increasingly hard waves of enemies. Link starts without any armour or weapons, and if he can defeat all of the enemies in the room, he can proceed to the next area. All enemies receive a rank upgrade (red bokoblins to blue) and regenerate health, forcing you to defeat them quickly. But what is the reward of this, if you complete the challenge, Link will unlock the true state of the Master Sword, which glows, no matter how many hearts you have. You can now see where you've explored and what parts of the world you missed. According to the game developer, "Enemies can also have higher maximum levels than they would in Normal mode". In the game, when you travel to a sacred location, you'll now have the option of doing this challenge. Particularly precarious enemies may pop up on floating platforms, and can target Link more easily in this mode.
Korok Mask: Wearing this will indicate if nearby Koroks are hidden. The DLC will include new armor sets for Link, there will be a total of 9 armor pieces divided into 5 different outfits.
The first DLC pack will be titled The Master Trials and will launch during summer 2017.
More Armor There are 8 treasure chests placed around Hyrule containing armor themed after previous The Legend of Zelda titles. One final new treasure to discover is the Travel Medallion.
The Master Trials DLC lands this summer but the still to be named second DLC won't arrive until the holidays this year. Speaking of map-related shenanigans, we've also got a travel medallion item, allowing you to register your location as a fast-travel spot.
If you're planning to buy (or already bought) a Nintendo Switch, consider The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild an essential purchase to go along with your new console.
If you are thinking, that this is all well and good, but I want new gear, then you are in luck, as there is that as well.
