After four years of being nominated for Best Restaurateur, Starr finally won this year and according to Philly.com, said of the honor, "I couldn't bear to hear my daughter Sara say, 'You're still number one to me, ' again".
Mark Furstenberg of Bread Furst took home his first James Beard Award on Monday. In the "Best Chef Northwest" category, Seattle finalists Edouardo Jordan (Salare and JuneBaby) and Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi (Joule, Revel, and Trove and Portland's Revelry) lost to Portland's Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton of Ox.
Monteverde, 1020 W. Madison St., opened in November 2015 and was named one of Food & Wine's Restaurants of the Year in 2016.
Rick Bayless' Topolobampo in Chicago was given the Outstanding Restaurant award-beating out David Chang's Momofuku Noodle Bar and San Francisco's Quince.

Chicago chefs were among the nominees in some of the evening's most prestigious categories, including Outstanding Restaurant, Outstanding Baker and Rising Star Chef.
The outstanding pastry chef award went to Tunisia native Ghaya Oliveira of Daniel restaurant in NY, where her dessert menu features ingredients like cardamom poached pear, blackberry-orange blossom sorbet and Mexican vanilla bean gingerbread. He was nominated for the top honor a year ago but didn't win. The James Beard Foundation announced last October that the awards will remain in Chicago through 2021.
