A new photo of Princess Charlotte has been released by Kensington Palace one day ahead of her second birthday. Kate is known for being a budding amateur photographer, having previously taken other official portraits of her children.

She's dressed in what has become "Charlotte style", in a cardigan sweater in yellow decorated with blue sheep, over a blouse or a dress with a Peter Pan collar. From the day she was born to her most exciting Christmas yet, scroll through to see Princess Charlotte's most adorable pictures.

In the four photos that were released by Kensington Palace a year ago today, saw Charlotte enjoying family life at her home.

We've heard about the bad twos and everything, but it must be said: Princess Charlotte still looks like a total sweetie-pie on the eve of her second birthday.

But while the royal couple have taken on more public engagements, they have also gone to great lengths to shield their children from the public eye and maintain some semblance of a normal upbringing.

When Charlotte's brother George celebrated his second birthday, the Queen and Prince Philip reportedly dropped in from nearby Sandringham - however, the Duke of Edinburgh is expected to host a lunch at Buckingham Palace tomorrow.

Prince William and his wife, Kate, want to protect their daughter's privacy. She was heard exclaiming "pop" as she pounded on the balloons before hugging a bunny and bouncing on a dog.

William and Kate recently announced that George will attend Thomas's Battersea School in London in the fall. Many are comparing her to her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, as well as Lady Sarah Chatto, the daughter of the late Princess Margaret, sister to the Queen.
