Twitter isn't quite sure how it feels about Aamir Khan breaking his "no award shows" rule to be handed a prize by Mr Bhagwat.
On the work-side, Aamir Khan will be next seen in "Secret Superstar" and is also prepping up for upcoming venture Thugs of Hindostan that also stars Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Contrary to media reports which said that Aamir received the award for Dangal, organizers however said that the award was given to the actor for "attending an awards ceremony" and not for any movie.
The Master Deenananth Mangeshkar Awards are held in memory of Lata Mangeshkar's father - a well-known Marathi theatre actor, a renowned Natya Sangeet musician and a Hindustani classical vocalist. The honour was for his performance in Dangal, one of the biggest hits of 2016.
"This is a huge honor for me, director Nitesh Tiwari and the entire team of "Dangal". She said, "I know he doesn't collect awards".
Once bashed for his comments on intolerance, Aamir was honoured by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagat which raised many eyebrows.
The director, who often gets embroiled in controversies due to his remarks, tweeted on Sunday that "Aamir doesn't care to be measured by any Indian award committee including National (Film Awards)". It was also quite ironical as to who presented him the award. Along with him, the yesteryear actress Vyjayanthimala and former cricketer Kapil Dev will also be rewarded. Now the Indian Express has a story about the same Aamir Khan accepting an award from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
