Vin Diesel talks Groot, Bond and Fast & Furious spin-offs

39;The Fate of the Furious' laps new films at box office

Fast and Furious Wins Second Box Office Weekend

The movie has now grossed approximately $160 million domestically and has since opened in more theaters nationwide. The latest film experienced a 39 percent drop at the domestic box office on Wednesday, according to Forbes; that is significant compared to Furious 7's 31 percent drop on its first Wednesday.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game-and the rest of the crew has been exonerated-the globetrotting team has found a semblance of normal life.

The scene - described as a short "tag" to the story - featured The Rock's character, Luke Hobbs, and Statham's character, Deckard, who develop a rapport over the course of the film. "All we concentrate on is making each Fast & Furious better than the last".

In fact, recent reports indicated that Vin Diesel axed a post-credits scene that featured Johnson and Statham that may have set up this spin-off, so the seeds for this idea have already been planted.

For those who enjoyed the contentious partnership between Hobbs and Shaw, there may be good news down the road.

"We still love each other, that's my boy", Diesel added. Johnson, who stars in next month's Baywatch, is now one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. It's possible the movie will go ahead as The Fast and the Furious series is Universal Pictures' most successful film franchise. People will pay to see this regardless of things like plot and whether or not it's necessary. But the saga got a shot of "franchise viagra" when it brought The Rock in as an adversary-turned-ally in Fast 5. While Shaw has a moment of redemption in The Fate of the Furious, which we won't reveal, the spinoff's writers will have their work cut out in getting fans to overlook Han's death at Shaw's hands. How do you think it will end?
