One person has been killed and three wounded after a gunman opened fire on board a train in the United States. He gave no information about a possible motive and said the shooting was under investigation.

Police have not yet released the name of the suspect, who was reportedly caught by police when he tripped and fell while trying to escape.

Chief Wanda Dunham identified the victim as 38-year-old Zachariah Hunnicutt. He was not a bad person. I don't want to hear anybody else on the news saying different'.

"My thoughts and prayers remain with the victim and everyone impacted in today's incident", MARTA CEO Keith Parker said.

'She got shot in the side and the leg.

"They shot him like he wasn't a human being". She said he's a father who worked at the airport as well as UPS.

The suspect, Chauncey Lee Daniels, was arrested when he tripped and fell trying to escape the scene. "I'm like 'Yo, man, this is a shooter.' Then I'm running for the door".

Shortly after the bursts, Caleb saw a number of people running from the train vehicle behind his family.

MARTA officials temporarily closed the station following the shooting and deployed buses to transfer passengers to other stations in the MARTA network.
