A boy 5 died from head injuries after he was pinned between a table and wall inside Atlanta's Sun Dial Restaurant

Cortez Stafford tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the little boy got his head stuck between two tables and suffered a head injury Friday.

The boy had wandered away from his family but was only a few feet from their table when the accident happened. "A small child doesn't know what to do in those moments".

The boy, whose head was caught within about 13cm of space, according to police, was identified as Charles Holt of Charlotte, North Carolina, an investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said on Saturday.

The Sundial restaurant is on top of the Westin hotel skyscraper.

Pickard said the restaurant floor has a motion sensor that automatically stops the rotating floor when it senses something is trapped.

But the child was critically injured and died later that day at a hospital.

A child has died after sustaining a head injury at the Sun Dial Restaurant.

Pickard said the boy's death was "very tragic".

WXIA has reached out to the business for comment and got a statement from George Reed, hotel manager for the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

That same year, a 10-year-old boy, Stephen Akinlabi, died after falling into the pool at the same Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. They were not staying at the hotel, according to authorities.

Westin's manager said, "Words can not express the depths of our sorrow".

"The family asks for prayers and privacy right now to come to terms with this tragedy".
