Arsenal revive top-four challenge with win over West Ham

Arsene Wenger's claim that Arsenal's draw with Manchester City could prove a turning point in their season will be tested when West Ham United visit the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Many Arsenal supporters are fed up with their long-serving manager Arsene Wenger and want him to leave at the end of the season following another underwhelming campaign.

Wenger's men are now seven points adrift of Pep Guardiola's side in fourth after extending their winless run to three games, meaning that they have won just one of their last six league matches.

"We are looking over our shoulders, of course, and there is no point in hiding it". We are professional and at our level you want to perform in the next game. "He is definitely going to be involved in the game - whether he starts or not, we'll see", Bilic said.

"And, because of his performance, we really should have gone on to win".

After a quiet first half, Mesut Ozil, on his 150th appearance for the Gunners, fired home from the edge of the box after being gifted possession by Jose Fonte.

Both Wenger and Slaven Bilic are feeling the pressure as we enter the final phase of the Premier League season, and Wenger will be happy to play another fixture so soon after the City game.

"We just came back from the worldwide break and our confidence is slowly coming back". The team looks to get stronger as each game comes by until November comes when a vital member of the squad is out injured - and is expected to return in 2 months time.

The under-fire Frenchman made the startling revelation on Tuesday morning when he was asked who took the armband from Laurent Koscielny when he was forced off at half-time with an Achilles problem.

The Gunners have won four and drawn one of their last six at the Emirates and should come out on top given their adversaries haven't tasted success for a few time.

The Hammers' board responded to the Hull defeat by issuing a statement in support of their manager.

"We can think about mathematics when the confidence is there again, but hopefully that will help us restart now", said Wenger.

For West Ham, Michail Antonio will face a late test to see if he is fit enough for the match while Aaron Cresswell will definitely miss out.

With Koscielny ruled out for the visit of the Hammers and Mertesacker short of full fitness, Wenger is short of captaincy options, and added: "I will have 24 hours to think about that".
